Honouring during the Annual Meeting of the Amercian Institute of Chemical Engineering  (AIChE), in San Diego, USA

Prof. Matthias Thommes, Head of Institute of Separation Science and Technology (Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg) has been distinguished for his outstanding contributions to the fundamentals of adsorption and the characterization of porous materials by the Separation Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). The Plaque of Honor was awarded to him during a dedicated Honorary Session at the AIChE Annual Meeting 2024 on October 28th in San Diego, California, USA.

The Honorary Session was organized by Dr. Daniel Siderius (National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, USA) and Dr. Armin Ebner (University of South Carolina). Leading chemical engineers from the USA and Europe presented the current state in the fields of adsorption and porous materials characterization focusing on both fundamental aspects and applications. The invited lecturers were: Prof. Stefano Brandani (University of Edinburgh, U.K), Prof. Gennady Gor (New Jersey Institute of Technology), Prof. Keith E. Gubbins (North Carolina State University, USA), Prof. Alexander V. Neimark (Rutgers University, USA), Dr. Daniel Siderius (National Institute of Standards, USA), Prof. Krista S. Walton (Georgia Institute of Technology, USA), and Dr. Roger D. Whitley (Air Products, USA).
